How lenient are you with your kids when it come to…?
…what movies they watch? My husband, (as well as a friend of mine) doesn’t want to “shelter” his kids (my step-sons) so he lets them watch almost anything type of movie. The boys are 10 and 13 and my hubby let them watch Hostel (I kid you not). I don’t have as much of a problem with the gore as I do with the extreme sexuality. I can’t even sit in the same room with them while they were watching movies like that. My husbands reasoning is that they already know about sex, etc.
How do you feel about your kids watching sexually explicit movies and what are your justifications for letting them? I’m not trying to sound judgmental, I just want your opinions.
Your husband’s attitude is fine if he wants to teach his kids that sex is an entertaining activity that needs no emotional attachment. The previous answerer who thought the kids knew it was pretend is correct. The kids soon realize that those people are performing for money and that their Dad accepts that as normal.
Frankly I find the idea of quite disturbing.
My kids may have watched movies like that but not at home. They knew about sex when they were quite young but I never encouraged them to think it was normal to watch other people.
